Ponniyin Selvan’s Chola Chola song hails Chiyaan Vikram aka Aditya Karikalan as fearless fighter & lover
The makers of Mani Ratnam’a magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 unveiled the second single titled Chola Chola from the film. Composed by Oscar-winner AR Rahman, the song is written by Ilango Krishnan. The song Chola Chola is dedicated to Chiyaan Vikram’s character Aditya Karikalan and talks about his love interest Nandini aka Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The song is crooned by Ravi Basrur and Nakul Abhyankar. It also compares Vikram, the chola king as a tiger, who is a fearless fighter and lover. Sharing the lyrical song on Twitter, the makers wrote, “This is our battle cry! #CholaChola single from #PS1 OUT NOW.”
This month itself, the makers released the first song of the film titled Ponni Nadhi. Ponni Nadhi song is the story of Karthi aka Vallavarayan Vandhiyathevan, who travels with his horse near the VeeraNarayana lake on Aadi Perukku. It is a festival celebrated in the Tamil month of Aadi.
The historical drama will feature celebrated actors in powerful roles, such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as ‘Nandini’, Superstar Vikram as ‘Aditya Karikalan’, Karthi as ‘Vanthiyathevan’, Trisha as ‘Kundavai’, and Jayam Ravi as ‘Arunmozhi Varman’. Sarathkumar, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Lal, Kishore, Ashwin Kakumanu, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi will be seen in important roles.
The film, the first part of which is set to hit screens on September 30 this year, will release in five languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Ponniyin Selvan is based on a historical fiction novel of the same name, written by author Kalki Krishnamurthy. The novel tells the story of Rajaraja Chola I of the Chola dynasty.
