‘I wouldn’t be surprised’ – watch Bukayo Saka’s Honest transfer claim made amid Liverpool and man city rumours
Former Premier League goalkeeper claims that Bukayo Saka may be persuaded to switch from Arsenal to Liverpool.
According to a former Premier League goalkeeper, Bukayo Saka might be persuaded to leave Arsenal if Liverpool makes an approach next summer.
In light of the stalemate in contract negotiations at the Emirates, the Reds have been linked with a move for the England international.
Despite the Gunners’ urgent attempts to lock him down to new terms, Saka has yet to commit to a contract extension.
There have been rumors over the weekend that they are prepared to treble his £70,000 weekly salary in order to stay in north London.
Saka, who won’t be playing Champions League games next season because Arsenal finished fifth last year, has also been linked with Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Gunners, however, have made several high-profile acquisitions, such as City duo Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, to announce their intentions for the 2022–23 season.
And former goalkeeper for Sheffield United and QPR Paddy Kenny told Football Insider that if they want to keep Saka out of the hands of teams like Liverpool, they must finish in the top four next season.
He said: “I think Arsenal will be going for fourth this season. I like who they have added, Jesus and Zinchenko. I just think he (Saka) isn’t in a major rush to sign.
“If Arsenal didn’t get into the Champions League this season I wouldn’t be surprised if he is looking for a move.
“He would be looking for a move to a regular Champions League team like Liverpool or Man City, even Chelsea.
“It would have to be someone who is more or less guaranteed Champions League football.
“It is a tough one because he still has years left on his deal and whoever comes in will have to pay top dollar.”
