“I Knew I Was Coming Here” – Watch Mason Mount Makes Anfield Claim, Amid Reports Liverpool Want To Sign Him

“I knew I was coming here” – watch Mason Mount makes Anfield claim, amid reports Liverpool want to sign him

Liverpool transfer target and Chelsea superstar Mason Mount has labelled Anfield as one of the toughest stadiums to play at in the world.

Mount played 82 minutes for Chelsea today, as they held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw. And speaking to Viaplay Fotball after the game, the 24-year-old made a comment about Anfield.

“I think from the last game having the win and getting that three points confidence-wise gives you a massive boost.

“We knew we were coming here, it’s a difficult place to come, one of the toughest places in the world to play and we know we have to be at the top of our game,” Mount said.

“I think for the majority of the game we were. Obviously a few times you’re going to be under pressure – like the second-half at the beginning, you feel under pressure but you have to deal with that. I think we were confident with how we wanted to play and I think it’s a step in the right direction.”

Liverpool ready to act on Mount interest

Reports started to circulate in November that Liverpool were keeping an eye on Mount’s contract situation at Chelsea.

With 18 months left on his deal, negotiations with Mount’s boyhood club appear to be dragging on.

As a result, Liverpool are said to be circling. Just last night, The Guardian reported that there’s now a ‘growing prospect’ of the Reds trying to buy the England international.

Should Mount fail to agree to an extension at Chelsea, it’s claimed that Liverpool will ‘act on their interest.’

If it does come to that, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of fee Chelsea are looking for. Back in 2019 Jurgen Klopp said that Mount was a ‘£60m player, if not more’ [Liverpool Echo].

With a year left on his contract this summer, that would seem like a very generous valuation.
